Possible Waxing Reactions and Side Effects
Waxing removes hair from the root and temporarily affects the surface of the skin.
Possible reactions may include:
- redness
- sensitivity or tenderness
- irritation
- swelling
- bruising
- small spots or follicle irritation
- ingrown hairs
- skin lifting
- superficial skin removal
- skin tearing
- minor bleeding
- temporary pigmentation changes
- allergic or sensitivity reactions
These effects are usually temporary, but their severity and duration can vary between individuals.
Intimate Waxing
Intimate waxing involves particularly delicate and sensitive skin.
Because of the nature and location of the treatment, temporary irritation, tenderness, redness, bruising, skin lifting or tearing and minor bleeding can occasionally occur.
Please tell your therapist immediately if you experience unusual discomfort, excessive heat, pulling or pain during treatment.
You may ask the therapist to pause or stop the treatment at any time.
When Waxing May Need to Be Postponed
Your therapist may decide not to perform, or may modify or postpone, treatment if there is:
- broken or damaged skin
- active infection
- significant irritation or inflammation
- active skin condition in the treatment area
- recent skin treatment or procedure
- medication or medical condition that may increase skin sensitivity
- any other contraindication identified during consultation
The therapist's decision will always be based on treatment safety.

Returning Clients
Previous successful waxing treatments do not guarantee that your skin will react in exactly the same way on future visits.
Your health, medications, skin condition and sensitivity can change.
For this reason, you must inform us before every appointment if anything has changed since your previous treatment.
Our therapist may also carry out a brief verbal safety check before treatment begins.
After Your Treatment
Please follow the aftercare advice given by your therapist.
After waxing, the skin may be temporarily more sensitive. Depending on the area treated, we may recommend avoiding activities such as:
- excessive heat
- hot baths or saunas
- intense exercise
- swimming
- perfumed products
- exfoliation
- tanning or strong sun exposure
for the period recommended by your therapist.
If you develop a reaction that concerns you, please contact us. If you experience severe symptoms, significant bleeding, signs of infection or any urgent medical concern, seek appropriate medical attention.

Consent to waxing does not remove your legal rights.
